June 8, 2026. - Wheelchair Basketball Australia is proud to congratulate Elizabeth (Libby) Woods on her appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the King's Birthday Honours - a richly deserved recognition of an extraordinary contribution to our sport and to the lives of people with disability across Australia and around the world.
Libby is one of Australia's most accomplished technical officials and administrators, and has dedicated her life to advancing opportunities for people with disability, particularly through wheelchair basketball.
Her distinguished service includes 12 years as Chair of WA Basketball, leadership of the National Scorebench Committee from 2010 to 2026, and service on the FIBA Technical Commission since 2005 - a role that has seen her shape the development of the sport at the international level for over two decades.
Libby has also served as a technical official at numerous World Championships, Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, cementing her place as one of the most respected figures in wheelchair basketball. There are few people who have given more to this sport - and today, that contribution has been recognised at the highest level.
Remarkably, Libby continues to give back - she is currently managing scorebench officials for Wheelchair Basketball Australia in Perth this season, a testament to her enduring passion for the sport and the people who play it.
Wheelchair Basketball Australia thanks Libby for everything she has given to our sport, and celebrates this honour with enormous pride.
