WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL AUSTRALIA (WBA) PRIVACY POLICY

1. Purpose and Scope

Wheelchair Basketball Australia (WBA) is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy governs how we collect, use, disclose, and secure your Personal Information across all business operations, including website use, professional services, and employment.

2. Collection of Personal and Sensitive Information
 
  • Personal Information: We collect identifying details such as names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers to provide services, conduct research, and manage administration.
  • Sensitive Information: Information regarding health, ethnicity, or professional memberships is only collected with consent or as required by law, and used strictly for its primary purpose.
  • Methods: Data is collected through interviews, correspondence, website forms, and occasionally from third parties.
     
3. Use and Disclosure

We use your information for primary service delivery and related secondary purposes you would reasonably expect. WBA may disclose your information:
  • To third parties with your explicit consent.
  • Where legally required or authorised.
  • To overseas recipients for international competition logistics, anti-doping requirements, or via secure commercial contracts.

We employ technical (anti-virus) and administrative controls to protect data from unauthorised access or misuse. Personal Information is generally retained in client files for a minimum of seven (7) years. When no longer required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify the data.

You may request access to the Personal Information we hold about you or request corrections to ensure accuracy. While we do not charge for the request itself, an administrative fee may apply for providing copies. Identity verification is required before releasing any records.
